Happiness is a Halston

This ad for the Martha Boutiques from August of 1973 declares that "Happiness is a Halston". I'd say that is still true 36 years later. I'd be really happy if I found this dress today.

When my mom passed a couple of years ago my sister and I had the pleasure of sorting through her closet. My mother had bought a pleated palazzo pants, jumpsuit for my Brother's rehearsal dinner in 1973. I found it in her closet. It was gorgeous and just the right size...with a Halston label.

A pair of crocodile pumps from 195? only they were too big for me so my sister got those. ;) A chanel quilted chain evening purse and a wonderful silk slip circa 196?
My mother was notorious for cleaning out her closet. Once a year she would get rid of everything she hadn't worn in the last 12 months. It was a miracle she had kept these things.
