Vintage Fur Lined Robe

Carven fur lined robe, 1946
My fantasies about Spring have been dashed. Here in Boston, we're about to get slammed with a good old New England Nor'easter. The weather says 4-6" of snow today and another 5-8" tomorrow. Oh joy. I wouldn't mind so much if I had this 1946 Carven pink velvet robe completely lined in Chinchilla fur. A girl can dream, can't she? As it is, though, I think I'll go hide under the covers.

oo and you know what strikes me about a fur-lined robe - one can have exquisite luxury without the ostentation of an externally facing fur - only the cuffs and such show. There is something lovely about keeping some things hidden and revealing only so much. Your post brought to mind something I heard once about the luxury of putting a custom lining in an exquisite color and fabric into a trenchcoat. Only peeks of the lining show through - so really, only the wearer knows it's there.

what a lovely dreamy dressing gown! I am currently suffering from the N'or Easter as well, though being on Cape we are only getting a little snow and then rain mix.
I know what to find some more vintage furs and somehow construct this for myself. I actually have a long vintage chinchilla scarf/wrap that I have been wondering what to do with and now I know. Why waste it on a coat for the world to see and to only sometimes were, it's gonna go in my boudoir and by my lovely secret warming wearable blanket. You made my day, as I watch the snow fall outside.

Hi gals! Misery loves company today! That's three of us in MA suffering from mean Mr. Winter. Glad you like the robe!

How very royal. Makes me think of Anna Karenina.

A third victim of the storm down here in SE Mass! This robe is divine and just what I would don to make it through this latest inundation of white stuff!
